Dear Diary,
Just want to report another fun time in Story, Wyoming.  The Hoovers had their annual Open House and "Come In Your Jammie" Sale at The Piney Creek General Story  on one of the coldest nights...days??...well, it seemed like it was night when I rolled out of the covers at 6 AM to put on my moose robe, moose slippers and warm moose nightcap!!  The old thermometer showed about zero at my house so I figured I'd have a real good chance of being the only one shopping for all those bargains when the doors opened at 6:30!

It wasn't easy getting in the car and driving with the moose heads on the slippers bumping around under the dashboard.  And I was wrong about the cold temps keeping people away.  As I pulled onto Fish Hatchery Road I saw about a dozen headlights coming down the road.  A glance up North Piney revealed more headlights.  Could all these people be on their way to work on a Saturday???  Nope, we all lined up in a caravan that wheeled in at the Piney Creek General Store.  And we weren't the first ones there!

The kitchen helpers were dressed for the occasion and had plenty of coffee on hand to warm us up.  And shoppers were actually already lined up at the check out counter!!  I just hoped they'd left some good bargains for me.

It was interesting to see many more men there in their jammies than in past years.  (It appears that most men sleep in sweats with weird boxer shorts over top.  I didn't know that!)  Although the guys appeared to be discussing the weather I saw a number of them with lists in their hands.  I wondered if they were good and kind husbands who were helping out the wife while she was snuggled warm in her bed?

The snacks were laid out with care and we all enjoyed them as we took a break from our shopping decisions.  And when you are at the Piney Creek there are a lot of those decisions you get to make.  "Should I buy the Pig Puppet or the Deer Head Door Knocker?"

Did you ever see such a collection of Jammie bottoms??  This check out line isn't one I'd ever seen in any store where I came from!  But then, who ever thought I'd wear that outfit that I had on...AND out in public...where people actually know who I am!

And of course, there are always those newcomers among us who doubt that ANYONE would go shopping in their jammies...so they showed up in clothes and missed out on a great additional discount.  I'm sure that next year they will join Vickie (here in her teepee robe) and get in on one of the most unique events in Story ... at the most unique general store in the area!
